Albert Dugan Obituary

Albert Francis Dugan, Jr. was born in Dallas, Texas on April 17, 1950. He moved to Dallas, Texas when he was nine years old and attended Mater Delarosa. He later graduated from Jesuit High School in 1968. After attending LSUNO, he started his career in the Marne Industry as a Marine Surveyor with Hull and Cargo Surveyors, Inc. in. New Orleans. In 1979, he and his family transferred to San Juan, Puerto, Rico for 4 years and later transferred to San Francisco, CA. Albert had an illustrious career that took him to manage the Loss of Income Claims for the Exxon/Valdez Oil Spill in Anchorage Alaska. He was awarded the Chairman's Award from Continental Insurance in London for his outstanding work. Albert joined Falvey Cargo Underwriting until he retired. Albert loved nothing more than sailing in the Caribbean and traveling the world with his family and did so often. Albert is survived by his wife of many years, Ventress, his daughter Noel, and his grandson Aaron, whom he spent time with everyday. Also, his sister, Mary Clark and brothers Dr. Fortune A. Dugan and Dr. Michael Dugan. Albert was a great family man and was affectionately known as "The Fixer". Farewell Al. We had a great conversation a few weeks ago about the "Ever Given" and "Ever Forward." I then shared with you how you did a great job on the "Exxon Valdez." I read your legacy, and I remember your being a marine underwriter in San Francisco. I thought that transition to underwriting was not very much heard about. Al, you will be missed. My deep condolence to your family. Jose Guerrero

My deepest sympathy to Ventress and the rest of Al's family. Al hired me as a Marine Surveyor for Hull and Cargo Surveyors, Inc. San Francisco in 1994, which was my transition from sailing as Chief Engineer to the insurance world, where I have been ever since. RIP Al
