Carol Jenzano Obituary

Carol Ann Jenzano

September 19, 1946 - December 17, 2024

Conway, South Carolina - Carol Ann Jenzano passed away on December 17 at the age of 78. She was born in 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to Anthony F. Jenzano Sr. & Myrtle "Jay" Jenzano (both now deceased). She is also pre-deceased by her only brother, Anthony "Tony" Jenzano Jr. The family moved to Chapel Hill in 1948. Carol is survived by: Sister-in-Law Joyce Jenzano, Godson Tony Jenzano III & Niece Stephanie Macomber; Godson Jarrod & niece Janine Jenzano; grand-nephews Jack & Jonathan Jenzano; and Godson Robert McCabe.

Carol had an exciting youth as her father's involvement with the Morehead Planetarium as well as the NASA training programs brought many of the original astronauts to the household in an informal, social setting which she was a part of. She told stories of those visits often and the joy she got from sharing these memories was exuberant.

Graduating from UNC, Carol earned a B.A. in Art and continued to achieve a master's degree in Education. She began a career in Education that would take her many places, introduce her to many people and ignite a passion in her for helping children with special needs. She would work in many U.S. locations including NC, FL and Washington, DC. In 1983, Carol was one of seventeen teachers in the country to be selected by the Department of Defense to implement an education program for military bases around the world. In this role, she lived in both the Philippines and Germany, traveling these countries as needed. She received many awards in this field and was well-respected by her colleagues. She held the title of 'Education Specialist.'

Carol was a fan of music, art, laughter and hugs. She liked to write poetry. One of her favorite things to do was to have a meal with family and friends, sitting around the table talking and just enjoying the company and conversation.

I first met Carol back in 1973 in MD. She lived across the hall from me in our apartment house for two years & we remained friends ever since. She was a wonderful person with an oh so vibrant personality. She was always there when anything was needed & at the time, being a Special Education teacher, so pulled me into helping at the Special Olympics, which I support to this day. It's sad to think that she's gone. The world is a lessor place without her. My condolences to her entire family & may she rest in peace.
