Eileen Miller Obituary

Miller - Eileen "Einee" Manley, was a devoted wife, aunt, stepmother, grandmother, cousin, friend, community member, and Catholic. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family at the age of 88.

A first-generation Irish-American, Eileen was born to May and Michael Manley in Bay Shore, NY on December 14, 1935, the third child and 'baby' of the family. She attended St. Patrick's Elementary School and Seton Hall High School, starting her career at the Long Island Lighting Company at the age of 17. She was an extremely generous hard worker, a maverick, world traveler, beach baby, life of the party, and a perfectionist with an indomitable spirit, sharp wit, and a highly developed gift of gab.

She met and married her beloved husband William "Doc" Miller on Long Island, and soon after they relocated to upstate NY where they built a beautiful home and lived happily in their retirement.

Eileen was dedicated to family above all, a second mother to her sister Peggy's (Douglas) children, stepmother to Lisa and Michael Miller, and grandmother to Sam and Kristine Miller. She dedicated her life to supporting and protecting her family and maintaining strong ties with her 60+ first cousins in Ireland, England, and the U.S., her nine nieces and nephews and their spouses and partners, 23 great-nieces and nephews, 14 great-great-nieces and nephews, and dozens of lifelong friends.

Eileen was predeceased by her father, Michael John Manley; mother, May Manley; sister, Peg Douglas; brother, Michael Manley; niece, Kathleen Douglas; and much-beloved nephew, Michael Douglas. She is survived by her husband, Doc Miller; stepchildren, Michael (Lyn) and Lisa Miller; grandchildren, Sam and Kristine Miller; nieces and nephews, Dr. Jeanne Wahl (Ernie), Laura Timulak (Ron), Robert Douglas (Ginger), Richard Douglas (Catherine), Kevin Douglas, Kathy Douglas, Suzanne Monzel (Todd Borgus), James Douglas (Sheila); and all of her beloved great and great-great-nieces and nephews and their families.
