Tomasa Castillo Gomez
September 22, 1924 — January 17, 2026
Tomasa Gomez, known to her family as Momo, passed away peacefully at the age of 101 on Saturday, January 17th, 2026 in Odessa, Texas. Tomasa was born to Miguel Castillo and Paula Carrasco on September 22nd, 1924 in Vado de Piedra, Chihuahua, Mexico. She met the love of her life, Pilar Gomez in 1934 and they were married on April 26th 1946. They moved to Odessa in 1951 and raised a beautiful family.
Tomasa is preceded in death by her parents, Miguel and Paula Castillo, husband Pilar Gomez, son Pilar Gomez Jr., daughter Enedina Gomez, twin daughters Jesusita and Juanita Gomez, sisters Trine Ramirez, Dominga Paz, brothers Daniel Castillo, Angel Castillo, Jose Leon Castillo, and Abel Castillo.
Immediate survivors are her children Hortencia Arredondo, Leonor Dominguez, Oscar Manuel (Irma) Gomez, Betty (Johnny) Vuelvas, and Brothers Alfredo Castillo, Salvador Castillo, Rafael Castillo, and Rojelio Castillo.
Tomasa also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren to cherish her memory.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 1PM-9PM with a rosary at 7PM at Martinez Funeral Home chapel.
A funeral mass will be held at 10AM on Wednesday January 21, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church 907 S. Dixie Blvd. Odessa, TX 79761, with Father Frank Chavez officiating.Burial will follow at the Ector County Cemetery, Rosehill Section, 300 S. Dixie Blvd. Odessa, TX 79761. Pallbearers are Oscar Gomez, Chris Gomez, Johnny J. Vuelvas II, Mateo Vuelvas, Tommy Arredondo, Michael Dominguez, Thomas Gomez, and Daniel Gomez.
We are forever grateful to Dr. R.J. Patel, the nursing staff of Medical Center Hospital and Focused Care at Odessa, and Hospice of Odessa for their care of Tomasa. Thank you to our family and friends that have supported us through this journey.
