Teresa Marie Yoreo Obituary

Teresa Ann Marie (Ertel) Yoreo, 95, of Tolland, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday 6/4/2025. She was blessed by having her children, granddaughter, family and friends with her during her final days. She was married to James Yoreo for 62 years. Born in 1929 in Rockville, CT to the late William and Anna (Stucky) Ertel. Teresa played basketball in high school, after high school until her marriage, Teresa worked in the cashiers department for the Hartford Fire Insurance Company. Teresa also was the bookkeeper for the Tolland Agricultural Center for many years. In her younger years Teresa loved to ride her bike which is still in the family's garage. Teresa Enjoyed traveling with her family and took special delight in commercial airplanes and that she was able to fly once on the Concorde as well as the many trips by plane, ship or automobile she and her late husband enjoyed in their retirement. Teresa had a love for birds having a number of canaries. She also loved her wild bird friends, especially cardinals and bluebirds. Teresa found joy in that over 36 bluebirds were "raised" in the backyard at her home. Teresa enjoyed music and was able to play songs she liked by ear on her Hammond organ. Through her life Teresa enjoyed attending Daily Mass and watching it on tv in her later years. She is survived by her sister-in-law Jane Adams, her daughter Margaret Moffett, son Dan Yoreo, and granddaughter Rebecca Moffett. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jim and their oldest son David as well as her siblings Anna Verge, William Ertel and Sister Agnes Ertel, RGS. As lifelong parishioners, the family would like to thank the Priests, staff and many friends she had from Blessed Sacrament Parish over the years. Teresa had many friends, some of them lifelong, she enjoyed calling or having over for coffee or tea. Thanks to Teresa's physician Dr Madhuri Pratinidhi for her years of care, her cardiologist Dr. Dushyant Gandhi and the family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Vernon Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for their unwavering care and support during Teresa's recent illness. Thanks also to her neighbors in Tolland for their friendship and support through the Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4 to 7 PM Sunday, June 8, 2025 at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Monday, June 9, 2025 at St. Bernard's Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville, CT. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery.
