Teresa Lynn Barnette passed away on June 18, 2022, surrounded by her family and friends, after
a courageous battle with Cancer.
Teresa was born December 28, 1958 in Ft. Collins, Colorado. She was the third of three children
born to John Dale Snider and Joanne Ruth (Wilson) Snider. Teresa spent her childhood in Ponca
City, Oklahoma, where she enjoyed playing softball, cheerleading, working as a lifeguard, and
spending time with her family. Teresa worked very hard in her professional life – always looking for
the next challenge. She began her career as a Secretary at Conoco Oil Company in Ponca City
and advanced within the company over the next couple of years. In 1979, Teresa gave birth to a
daughter – Jennifer Barnette. A few years later, Teresa married Mike Barnette and they had two
sons – Joshua Hank Barnette and Brian Adam Barnette. Teresa and her family stayed in Ponca
City until 1988, when the family moved to Western Oklahoma where they took over the family farm
near Clinton, Oklahoma. Teresa and Mike divorced and she became a single Mom, working full
time and tending to the farm. As busy as she was, she still supported her children in their lives –
attending ball games or other school functions, making sure they knew she was their biggest fan.
She taught her children to work hard and never give up on their dreams.
After all of her children graduated high school and moved from the farm, Teresa decided to start a
new life in Yukon, Oklahoma. There, she met the love of her life – Darren Huey and started
working in the oil and gas industry once again. She worked at JW Power, JW Wireline, Exide
Battery, and settled at ARKOS Energy in El Reno, where she was employed until her death.
Throughout Teresa's life, she persevered through any obstacle. On the farm, Teresa tackled any
chore – cutting firewood, raising cows, chickens, pigs, pheasant, quail, training bird dogs,
gardening, and even harvesting honey from wild bees. She enjoyed spending her spare time in
the outdoors – fishing, swimming, bird – watching, and reading. She loved gatherings with her
family and truly enjoyed the role of hostess. She loved feeding her family and they loved the food
she fed them. Teresa and Darren enjoyed their lives together by attending or watching NASCAR
races, ice hockey, Rock and Roll concerts, fishing at Lake Eufaula (or any other place you could
cast a line), or just sitting on the back porch watching the birds she loved so much. Teresa will be
missed by all who knew her and will always be remembered as a kind, fun-loving, determined
woman that enjoyed life to the fullest.
Teresa is preceded in death by her father – John Dale Snider; Mother – Joanne Ruth Wilson; and
Son – Brian Adam Barnette. Teresa is survived by her long-time love – Darren Huey of the home
in Yukon, Oklahoma; Sister – Chris Nance and her husband Kenny of Ponca City, Oklahoma;
Brother – Steve Snider, Monett, Missouri; Daughter – Jennifer Barnette, Cordell, Oklahoma; Son –
Joshua Hank Barnette and wife, Amanda, Midwest City, Oklahoma; Daughter-in-law – Sierra
Barnette, Clinton, Oklahoma; Five Grandchildren – Paige Canterberry, Farmington, Missouri; Will
Canterberry, Cordell, Oklahoma; Tyler Canterberry, Cordell, Oklahoma; Lucy Barnette, Clinton,
Oklahoma; Ben Barnette, Clinton, Oklahoma; and Bowie England, Cordell, Oklahoma; Niece –
Jessica Snider and Nephew – Will Snider, Missouri; Best Friend – Kaye Abramson and her
husband Mike, Clinton, Oklahoma.
A small, private memorial will be held in July on the family farm to honor Teresa's life and legacy.

I´m so very sorry to hear of Teresa´s passing. She was a wonderful woman and it was a pleasure to get to know her through our time at Arkos together. I´m so thankful to have known someone as honest and internally beautiful as her. I know she is singing with the angels in God´s beautiful Heaven now, free from pain and hurt. She will truly be missed.
