Shelly Hammond Obituary

Shelly L. Hammond, 62, of Farmington Hills, passed away January 26, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with multiple illnesses. She died with her loving husband, Jason, by her side.

Shelly and Jason shared many adventures over the years. They maintained a second home in Harrison, and now in Gladwin Michigan, where they enjoyed all the seasons-especially boating and spending countless hours on the water. Shelly loved snowmobiling, four wheeling, fishing and trying new activities; Jason, ever protective, often kept her from taking risks that might put her health in further jeopardy.

Though she was not a sports fan in her youth, she came to cheer on all of the Detroit sports teams, especially her beloved Red Wings. Shelly was born December 26, 1963 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Joan and James Brown. Born and raised in Michigan, Shelly faced serious health challenges from a young age. As a teenager she was diagnosed with kidney failure, and by age 22 she required a transplant. After a successful transplant at 24, Shelly embraced life with energy and enthusiasm, determined to make the most of every day. Shelly's courage and spirit inspired everyone who knew her.

She faced setbacks with bravery: a cancer diagnosis in 2016 and later a stroke, together with complications related to her kidneys, made her final years difficult. Through it all, Jason remained her devoted caregiver and closest companion. Shelly will be remembered for her adventurous heart, her warm curiosity, and the joy she found in life's moments with family and friends. She leaves behind the lasting impression of someone who continued to hope and relish life even through hardship.

Shelly was the loving wife of Jason for 38 years; beloved step mother of Jason III (Julie) and Jennifer Lee (Sean); cherished step grandmother of Madison, Mackenzie and Madelyn; sister of Keith Brown and aunt of Avery and Even Brown.

A celebration of life is planned for Shelly to be held at Highland Lakes Condominium Club House, the venue where Jason and Shelly celebrated their wedding reception, 20301 Silver Springs Dr, Northville, MI 48167, April 11, from 6pm-12am. Please attend and remember Shelly with her family.
