Shane Hernacki Obituary

Byron, GA – Shane Joseph Hernacki, 39, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 28, 2022, following a prolonged battle with PTSD, at his residence. Services are pending at this time, but Shane will be laid to rest with military honors in Andersonville National Cemetery.
Shane was born on April 1, 1982, in Elgin, IL to William Joseph and Karen Ann (Groebner) Hernacki. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army, where he excelled in many areas and received many medals and accolades. He was very intelligent and had aspired to be a teacher someday, teaching English in Cambodia. He also loved science, especially chemistry. Shane enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his best friend, Gizmo, his dog. He loved animals of all kinds and was very skilled in the arts of taekwondo. Shane will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, William "Bill" and Karen Hernacki of Byron, GA; his brother, Jamie Hernacki and his sister, Julie Hernacki.
