Ruth Ishmael Obituary

Griselda "Ruth" (Davis) Ishmael, age 81, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Thursday, May 30, 1940, to Leon and Zelda Adeline (Bones) Davis, at Ada, OK, and was raised in Coalgate, OK. Ruth passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Denison, TX. She graduated from Coalgate High School in 1958 and went on to attend Draughon's Business School. Ruth worked at the Atoka Abstract Office for a while and was also a housewife and homemaker for her family. She married Hal Wayne Ishmael on July 11, 1959 at Coalgate, OK. They celebrated 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2013. Ruth was a lifelong member of Penn and A and South Atoka Church of Christ where she taught Children's Bible Classes. A longtime member of the Atoka County Historical Society, Hal was President. She was co-editor of Tales of Atoka County Heritage, and loved spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her children, Chris Ishmael and wife Gwen of Van Alstyne, TX, Greg Ishmael and wife Debi of McKinney, TX, Sonya Young and husband Scott of Edmond, OK, Tonya Stephens and husband James of Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren, Lauren Ishmael Welch and husband Josh of Parker, CO, Ashley Ishmael McKinney and husband Braxton of Van Alstyne, TX, Tyler Young of Tulsa, OK, Tanner Young and wife Kaycie of Ada, OK, Brandon Ishmael and wife Jennifer of McKinney, TX, Trey Stephens and wife Kate of Bixby, OK, Trent Stephens of Tulsa, OK, Kyle Ishmael of Frisco, TX, Ryan Ishmael and wife Kelsey of McKinney, TX, Brian Ishmael and wife Nina of McKinney, TX; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Ken Davis and wife Neta of Moore, OK, Don Davis of Stillwater, OK; sisters, Jane Johnson and husband Raymond of Ada, OK, Patty Prough and husband Dave of Aiken, SC; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Zelda Adeline (Bones) Davis; husband, Hal Wayne Ishmael; paternal grandparents, Ruff and Ora Smith Davis; maternal grandparents, Philip Edward and Mima Stella (Brown) Bones.
