Rose J. Alexander, a strong, beautiful, and loving 98-year-old matriarch, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 9th.
Visitation hours are on Wednesday, August 14th, from 12-2 pm at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. located at 500 State Street, Carthage, NY. Burial services immediately after will be private in the St. James Catholic Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 3 pm at the VFW, 668 West End Avenue, Carthage, NY.
She was born in Pickney, NY on November 18, 1925, and married Clarence E. Alexander on December 18, 1944. Rose was predeceased by her husband Clarence on November 15, 1972, and son Anthony in 1964.
Rose was blessed with 11 children, 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her surviving children and sons-in-law: Patti and Jim Killian of Queensbury, NY; Linda and Tom Welsh of West Palm Beach, FL; Cheryl Giovo (John, passed away December 2023) of Carthage, NY; Debbie and Randy Bishop of Harrisville, NY; Sue and Dan Kaminski of Harrisville, NY; Annie and George Munger of Punta Gorda, FL; Bonnie Kimball of Oswego, NY; Clarence Jr. of Watertown, NY; Jackie Ormsby of Canton, GA; and Joey Alexander and partner Eric Mugisha of Lexington, KY.
She had a very close relationship and maternal bond with her grandchildren Jessica Graves and Joshua Kimball who provided constant love and unwavering support.
Rose was a dedicated mother and grandmother, who spent most of her time raising and caring for a large family, she loved to dance and read and enjoyed watching soap operas. She will be fondly remembered for her compassionate, nurturing, and loving heart. She always had a kind word and was never judgmental, she was loved by all.
