Rolf Anders Gidlow, 70, a resident of Londonderry, VT, passed away June 16, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. Rolf was born in Omaha, NE, on June 9, 1952, the son of the late Rolf Gunnar Gidlow and Harriett Jean Anderson. He attended schools in North St. Paul, MN, graduating from North High School and attending the University of Minnesota where he studied music theory. Rolf had a long career as an alpine ski racing coach. He coached the Ski Hut Team in Wayzata, MN, for 10 years. This was followed by 30 years in Vermont, including 22 years at Burke Mountain Academy, 4 years at the Green Mountain Valley School, and 4 years at Stratton Mountain School. Rolf was an accomplished musician whose primary instrument was the piano. Most recently, he studied Traditional Irish music and spent hours honing his skills on the concertina. Rolf was a lover of nature, an avid bird watcher, and member of the Audubon Society. In addition to his love of music, Rolf immersed himself in books, poetry and golf. Rolf is survived by his wife Kasey (Melton) Gidlow and beloved kitty Pali of Londonderry, VT; stepson Zachary Kinsella (Kelsey) of Dorset, VT; sisters Lisa Gidlow Moriarty (Dennis) of Stillwater, MN; and Sonja Gidlow (Timothy Worms) of Avon, MN; nieces Erin Moriarty and Isabel Gidlow. A Celebration of Life for Rolf will be held Friday, July 1, 2022, at 3pm at Stratton Mountain School. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Vermont Public Radio c/o Brewster-Shea Funeral Services PO Box 885 Manchester Center, VT 05255.
