Cumberland, MD- Robert "Bob" Andrew Thompson, 65, of Cumberland, MD passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at UPMC-Western Maryland.
Born May 21, 1957, in Keyser, WV, Mr. Thompson was the son of the late Charles Joseph Thompson, Sr. and Margaret "Mammy" Ann (Murphy) Thompson. He was also preceded in death by a brother: John Thompson.
Bob was a graduate of Bruce High School Class of 1975, and also graduated from Potomac State College and Fairmont State University. He recently retired from Allegany County Public Schools where he worked for 42 years; he taught 32 of those years at Fort Hill High School. While working at Fort Hill he served as the Choral and Drama Director and was also the Sentinelette Advisor for several years.
Bob was a former church Choir Director for LaVale United Methodist Church. He was a longtime performer and stage manager at the Cumberland Theatre. Bob was owner of the Tea Cupboard in Cumberland and Morgantown for several years.
Bob loved playing piano at home, doing crosswords, and working in the garden; his family meant the world to him and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Adrianne "Andee" Thompson; his son: Joseph Thompson, E.D.D., and wife Jennifer; his daughter: Staci Calder and husband Travis; his brothers: Charles Thompson, Jr., and Michael Thompson; as well as his granddaughter: Molly; and grandson: Finley.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
A private family graveside service will take place.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at UPMC-Western Maryland ICU unit for all the care and compassion given.
