Richard (Scott) Solimine, 65, recently of Port Saint Lucie, FL, formerly of Woburn and Falmouth, MA, passed away suddenly on April 12th. Scott was born at Otis AFB, and was the son of the late Anthony and Carol Solimine of Falmouth.
Scott had a great sense of humor, a sharp, intelligent wit, and could have a good conversation with anyone anywhere. He had a very kind and caring heart and was friendly with everyone. His bigger than life smile and influence on all he touched has been felt in the love and outpouring of sadness of his loss by friends and family. Retired at age 50, Scott was an Air Traffic Controller at Otis, Nantucket and Hanscom Field; and for most of his career, a Tower Controller at Logan Airport in Boston where he built his professional reputation and acumen. He was known to extend his hand to family and friends in need, no matter what the project was. Scott had a keen sense about food preparation. His mastery of cuisine brought joy to many. He loved to cook and was a masterful chef. Scott spent much of his free time working in his yard and gardens. He was very proud of his immaculate yard, and especially his gardens on three sides of his home in Woburn. His flower bulbs, seeds and plantings were shared throughout the neighborhood, so he influenced others' gardens as well. He was an avid lover of Old Silver Beach in Falmouth, and Long Beach in Gloucester where he would sit with his chair in the water for hours during the warm months.
Scott is survived by his wife, Jenny (Dodge) Solimine who was by his side when he passed. He is the cherished and much loved brother of Michael Solimine (Milford), Linda Solimine Cafferty (Woburn), and Chris Solimine (Falmouth). Uncle Scotty will be sadly and lovingly remembered and missed by his many nieces and nephews in MA, NC and CA. He will also be missed by his loving Uncle Dave and Aunt Mary Jane Solimine of Lynn, and his many beloved cousins and extended family members from the Boston area, Cape Cod and GA.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service for Scott at 2pm on May 14th at the Solimine Funeral Home (solimine.com), 67 Ocean Street (Rt. 1A), Lynn, MA 01902.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in R. Scott Solimine's memory to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451.
