Raymond Smith Obituary

Raymond Lee Smith, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, in Taylor, Michigan. Born on April 29, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, Ray led a full and remarkable life of 95 years.
Ray shared over seventy years of unwavering devotion with the love of his life, his late wife, Pat Smith. Their union was an inspiring testament to true love. They first met on a blind date and from that moment on, they were inseparable. Together, they exemplified harmony, never having a single quarrel during their marriage. Their daughter often said they had the perfect marriage. Every Sunday, they attended church in color-coordinated outfits, with Pat always seated beside him on the bench seat of their truck. After church, they relished their visits to the Wishbone restaurant and also went to get donuts at Tasty Cream Donuts in Allen Park.
A man of many talents, Ray was known for his skills in plumbing, masonry, car repair, and gardening, making him the ideal handyman. He took pleasure in the simple joys of life, such as sipping coffee while reading the newspaper where he would get them at 7-Eleven, and he held a special fondness for Gospel Bluegrass music. Ray cherished his family and was deeply loved by them in return.
Raymond was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Pat Smith; his parents, Worthington and Ruby Smith; and his sister, Gloria Williams. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his surviving family: his daughters Karen Norris, with her husband David "Michael," and JoAnn Hamp; his grandchildren Tracy with husband Jim, Derrick with wife Heather, and Tim with wife Sarah; and his great-grandchildren Ayden, Cassidy, Conor, Autumn, Tyler, and Tanner.
Raymond's life was a testament to love, dedication, and family. He will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by all who knew him.
