Raymond Stephen Rusnak, age 64, of Lawrence Park, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, June 13, 2022, following an extended illness. He was born in Erie on November 6, 1957, the son of the late Steve and Genny (Wenturine) Rusnak.
Ray graduated from Iroquois High School in 1975, where he was a stand-out baseball player. He was a 1979 graduate of the GE Apprentice Program, and furthered his education at Gannon University, earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1983. Ray was employed by the Lord Corporation for over 25 years and had previously worked for Associated Springs and GE. He was a member of the St. Mark the Evangelist RC Church, as well as a founding member of the parish Knights of Columbus Council #13826 (3rd Degree). In his younger years, Ray enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, and attending hockey games. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Cleveland Browns, and the Gannon basketball program. No matter what Ray faced with his physical health, he always accepted setbacks with grace, a positive spirit, and a smile.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Sheri L. (Harrison) Rusnak; two children: Amanda M. Spaeder (Jeremy) and Brittany R. Rusnak; one sister, Susan R. Grant (Kevin); mother-in-law, Sue Gaul (Bruce Harvey); sister-in-law, Cindi Sebolt (Tim); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are warmly invited to call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.), on Friday from 4 to 7 PM and are further invited to attend a prayer service there on Saturday at 9:15 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Mark the Evangelist RC Church, 695 Smithson Ave, Lawrence Park, conducted by Rev. Thomas Trocchio. Following the Mass, Ray will be laid to rest at St. Gregory Cemetery, North East. Memorials may be made to St. Mark the Evangelist RC Church, or the Iroquois School District Foundation.
