Pauline Elizabeth Carruth Howe, 94, formerly a resident of Village Lane in Bennington, VT, passed away Thursday June 16, 2022 at Crescent Manor Rehabilitation in Bennington. Pauline was born in Bennington, VT on September 23, 1927 the daughter of the late Paul E. Jewett and Elizabeth Noteman. She attended local schools, graduating from Bennington High School. Pauline worked for Sears and Roebuck & Company for 18 years retiring in 1947. She also worked for King Company for 12 years was a Grey Lady at SVMC with over 1000 hours logged and was the longest living and active member of the Second Congregational Church in Bennington. She enjoyed crafts, her home and traveling. Pauline is survived by her son George E. (Eddie) Carruth of South Wheelock, VT, her brother Paul E. Jewett of Bennington, step children Arthur Howe and Shirley Sausville, her sister-in-law Gabriele Davis of Bennington, cousin Kay Kwasniewski and many nieces and nephews, she was preceded in death by her first husband Richard A. Carruth whom she married in 1947 and Crosby Howe. Mr. Carruth passed away October 28, 1977 and Mr. Howe passed away November 22, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her sister Margaret Randall. Graveside funeral services for Pauline will be held Friday July 8, 2022 at 11am in Bennington Centre Cemetery in Old Bennington. There Are no visiting hours. Dec. 9, 2022 Just called to talk to Polly and was told this sad news. To Paul, I'm your cousin, Kathy, daughter of Rita Schwanz. There isn't very many left, but I will pass this on to Nancy. I'm so sorry.
