Norman Glenn "PawPaw" Minton, 88, of Attalla went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 4, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Mr. Minton was a Christian by faith, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was an Army veteran that served in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Army he went on the become a steelworker and then spent 60 years of being a self-employed painter.
PawPaw enjoyed attending various farmer's markets and sell fruits and vegetables whether it was at a market or on the side of the road at his house. He loved people and always wanted to help in anyway he could. He was available to anyone and everyone, accepted all, and had a sweet, sweet spirit about him. PawPaw almost never left the house without his Red Seal Snuff, Red Supreme tobacco, and his dog. He was an avid Alabama fan and fisherman in which he shared that passion with his family. If you couldn't find him sitting under a tent selling tomatoes you could find him off with the grandkids fishing or getting a sno-cone in his later years. Prior to that he was teaching the kids how to paint, play Bingo, and love like Jesus. PawPaw always wanted people to know who Jesus was and spread his testimony of how God took care of him throughout his life. He tried his best to make it to 100, but the Lord needed him sooner. PawPaw was the greatest man we ever knew, dearly loved, and will be missed by all that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Emone Buss Minton and Bertie Minton Ray, his brothers George Emuel Minton and Billy Ray Minton, his sister Mary Frances Minton West.
He is survived by many loving family members which include: his wife of 65 years, Helen Minton; two sons, Michael Minton; one daughter; nine grandchildren, Jessica Minton, Heather Minton, Whitney (Cory) Minton, Summer (David) Clowdus; sixteen great-grandchildren, Alyssa "Lee-sa" Minton, Hannah "Blondie" Minton, Hunter "Henry" Minton, Melody "The Baby" Clowdus; his dog, Lucille; chosen daughter and son, Doris Lankford and David Swann, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be David Clowdus, Jimmy Gann, Cory Jones, Andrew Roberts, David Swann, and Jon Wade.
The family would like to send our heartfelt gratitude to our close Gadsden Regional family that we have all come to love and know over the years through taking great care of PawPaw. Also a special thank you to Pastor Tommy Marshall and Jon Wade for always loving him and the family.
