Mr. Michael Lee Head of Harvest, Alabama passed from this life on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at River City Nursing Home in Decatur.
My father, Michael Lee Head was born July 10, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana. His parents were John and Bertie Head and he had two brothers Joe and Tom. He entered the Marine Corps right out of high school and carried that patriotism throughout his life.
I will always remember Dad as the strict but loving parent, who was always there when I needed someone to talk to. He always tried to teach me to do the right thing and to be helpful, kind and loving to others.
Dad always had a helping hand. He was involved in many groups, such as boys clubs, and meals on wheels and he was always there to take his friends to their doctor appointments or to the grocery store. He also coached little league basketball and football.
He was a wonderful grandpa. His three grandchildren, Jacob, Elizabeth, and Rebecca always had fun taking pictures and sending them to their papaw when we lived far away. But they really liked it when he came to visit us. Some of Dad's favorite things were going to horse races and baseball games, listening to Indy races on the radio and watching the news and weather all day long. When he was younger, he also liked working out in the yard.
Michael is preceded in death by Patsy Ann his wife of 28 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Beth Rogers and her husband Danny and their three children, Jacob, Elizabeth and Rebecca and one great granddaughter Isabella. He is also survived by a niece, Courtney Davis, and her daughter Kodi as well as his mother-in-law, Rosie.
I will always love my dad and I look forward to seeing him in Heaven. I love you Dad!
~ Written with love by his daughter, Beth ~
Graveside Services will take place on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Shelbyville beginning at 4:00 p.m. with his son-in-law, Pastor Donny Rodgers, officiating. Military honors will be bestowed.
