Justin Banks Obituary

Funeral services for Justin Banks, 42, of Portales, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wed., May 4, 2022 at the Central Christian Church in Portales with Pastor Don Thomas officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Southern, Thurston Herrera, Tracy Teel, Rusty Hardin, Monica Lucero and Jason Wilbanks. Justin will be available for visitation at the funeral home on Tues., May 3, 2022 from 8 AM until 8 PM. The family will be present to receive guests at the funeral home on Tues. evening from 6 until 8 PM.
Justin Lee Banks was born Jan. 22, 1980 in Clovis, NM to the home of Carol Joan (Holmes) and Ned Lee Banks, and died at his home in Portales on Tues., April 26, 2022. Justin grew up in Portales, and was a 1998 graduate of Portales High School. A year later he moved to Kansas, where he worked various construction jobs in the Topeka area. He had done a variety of things in the construction trades, such as roofing and remodeling, and was especially accomplished in texturing dry wall. He also worked with sheet metal building metal buildings. In 2018, he moved back to Portales to be near family.
Justin always enjoyed just hanging out with his family and friends. He especially loved children, and they in turn were drawn to him. Justin was an accomplished artist, and liked to draw and paint. In addition, he had a love for music and playing his guitar. His favorite outdoor activity was to go fishing. Justin always enjoyed putting a smile on peoples faces and he did that very well.
He is survived by his mother Carol Payne of Portales; his father and step-mother, Ned and Patty Banks of Ozawkie, KS; a brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Jena Wilbanks of Portales; a sister and brother-in-law, Karla and Mike Kahler of Belton, TX; as well as numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and other family members, and his many, many friends.
