Julie Ann Washburn (Phinney), age 64, passed unexpectedly after battling lung disease in Wasilla, Alaska on May 1, 2022.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Joel Washburn, children Brandi Mayo and Tony Wolf, Amanda and Micah Satterly, Chad and Amanda Swarthout, grandsons Bradley and Austyn Fortin, Dakota Mayo, Zachary and Aidan Satterly, and James and Dylan Swarthout, sister Sherri Bosse, brother Timothy Phinney, extended family, and countless friends.
Julie, born February 8,1958 was raised in Gray, ME and moved to Meadow Lakes, Alaska in August of 1994. The lives she touched were impacted in many ways. To her husband she was the love of his life, best friend, and adventure buddy. To her grandsons she was a secret keeper, confidant, supporter, protector, and friend. To her children she embodied what a mother is meant to be and the person we strive to emulate. She was tough, tenacious, loving, stubborn, supportive, hilarious, resourceful, and would kick our butts when we deserved it. She instilled a sense of pride and priority in her family that will live on for generations to come. She was fiercely protective of the people or pets that she loved. She volunteered for her grandsons' sports and veteran organizations alike. She never met a stranger, was kind, generous, had a need for speed, and could out fish every one of us. She gave love to anyone who needed it, collected strays of all kinds, loved outdoor adventures, and was in her element around a campfire. She was an avid crafter, baker, party planner, and loved to feed people. The impact of her passing leaves a piece missing from countless hearts. Until we meet again go on those adventures and collect those stories to tell us around the campfire.
Celebration of life will be held at her home in Meadow Lakes, Ak on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 2pm weather permitting. For more info contact the family at [email protected] or on Facebook
