Captain Joseph Adam Lyall passed away unexpectedly on July 23, 2022, at the age of 43, in Pavones, Costa Rica after suffering a heart attack. We have all lost an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend.
It's hard to find the words to express exactly how much he meant to everyone. He lived and loved life to the fullest every single day and took care of everyone around him before taking care of himself. He has traveled the world on many fishing vessels, taking care of his family and looking out for his friends. We are all devastated by this huge loss and he will be forever missed. He was born with a naturally sweet and kind soul, a heart of gold, and a big grin for everyone he met. He has caught more fish than probably anyone you know and when he is hot on a species he investigates, creates a dance, and figures out how to catch them.
He was born in Texas but moved to Florida at the age of 18 and began a new life here. Continuing his career he moved into the private sportfishing world and lived in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, after meeting his wife Tara, the love of his life, in 2014. They created an incredible life together, supporting each other every step of the way as partners, best friends & soulmates. He traveled back and forth to the Dominican Republic, his second home, as Captain of the Blackhawk winning many tournaments back to back – he was extremely competitive which lead him to win these championships all while being humble enough to share his secrets with anyone who asked him to.
He loved anything to do on the water including surfing and boating and taking his girls to the island to play in the sand and the sun. He was a Texas state surfing champion when he was younger and all throughout his life he loved to go for a paddle and catch a few waves, especially with his brother Bill.
He will always be forever remembered by 'HIS LOVE' Tara Lyall. Daughters Brianna Lyall, Chayse Lyall and Harper Lyall; Granddaughter Ezmae Lyall; younger brother Bill Lyall and his wife Lauren; his older brother Stephen Lyall and his wife Amanda. Mother and father, Luann & Dennis Wilson, and a long list of deeply-saddened aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
He was always on the search for the most beautiful sunrise and sunsets, the next biggest fish, and the most perfect point break. We have to believe he is living out his days above doing all of those things in eternal happiness. A king, a champion, and our North Star – pointing us all in the direction we should be going. Thankful to know you and to love you. Until we meet again Captain Joe.
Friends and family will gather on Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 3:00 until 5:00 at FirstNSB Church, 200 Faulker Street, New Smyrna Beach, Florida, 32168, to visit and share memories of Joe. A memorial service in his remembrance will follow at 5:00.
In lieu of flowers, the Lyall family asks that donations be made directly to Joe's daughters through Space Coast Credit Union, care of account 8100012246435.
