Meador Funeral Home – Whitesboro
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18
Jon William Brown was called to his eternal home on December 19, 2024, at the age of 77, following a battle with mental illness. A longtime resident of Whitesboro, Texas, and formerly of Greenville, Texas,
Jon lived a life full of love, service, and unwavering faith.Jon was born on October 10, 1947, in Farmington, New Mexico, to William Thomas and Dorothy Isabell (Johnson) Brown. On August 21, 1976, he married Marcy Allen, in Whitesboro. A self-employed entrepreneur, Jon believed it is more blessed to give than to receive, dedicating much of his life to serving others. He held numerous leadership roles throughout his life, including Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Committee for Greenville, President of Downtown Businesses for Greenville, and served in Keep Greenville Beautiful. Jon was also a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International and served as President of the Heart Association of Greenville. His compassionate spirit shone through his work with REC (Residents Encounter Christ), a prison ministry for the Johnston Unit in Winnsboro, Texas, and his active involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous, where he attended and gave guidance in recovery. Jon's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He served as an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Whitesboro. Known for his humorous and quirky personality, Jon brought light and laughter wherever he went. He loved drawing, playing the guitar, and found great joy in working outdoors, taking pride in his home, yard, and farm work. Above all, he loved his family fiercely and leaves behind an unfillable void in their lives.
Jon is survived by his wife, Marcy Brown of Whitesboro; his children, Bill Brown and wife Allison of Austin, Bliss Brown Nauert of Rockwall, Leigh Brown of Whitesboro, and Ben Brown and wife Rebecca of Dallas; and his grandchildren, Grace Ann Brown, Will Brown, Lilly Brown, Caroline Brown, Hailey Nauert, Jake Nauert, Kyle Nauert, Max Staggs, and Benton Parks. He is also survived by his nephews, Blake and Bo Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Brown; his brother, Lynn Brown; and Lynn's wife, Janey.
A Celebration of Life honoring Jon will be held at a later date for family and close friends. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro.

The Brown´s home was my home away from home as a teenager. We teens occasionally sparred with boxing gloves and always tried to get Mr. brown to join.
24 years later, his son remains a dear friend of mine. Apparently Jon retold the story many times of me showing up to his house one day with boxing gloves in hand. Jon answered the door and a challenged him to a fight in jest. As a scrawny kid, I´m glad Mr. brown declined.
He also gave me my first real job in college. I saw that not only was he a great father to his kids but also fantastic boss to his employees.
