John Joseph "Bomber" Tejkl, age 63 of South Rockwood, passed away on July 16, 2022, at Hospice of Lenawee after a brief battle of lung cancer. He was born on January 31, 1959 in Adrian to John and Charlotte (Mossing) Tejkl. Bomber graduated from Sand Creek High School, class of 1977. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 2016 after 28 years of service, where he was a Team Leader on the door line.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Joshua J. Tejkl of Adrian and Joshua's mother, Bonnie Tejkl.
He is also survived by his very special companion of 10 years, Cynthia Slatten; Bomber and Cynthia loved to travel, visit local casinos, and bingo halls.
Also surviving are his siblings: Bill (Michelle) Tejkl of Angola, IN, Helen Tejkl, Ted (Kim) Powers of Sand Creek, Patty (Eric) Bubel of Heath, OH and Karen (Todd) McMordie of Manitou Beach; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Bomber was considered the "King of Euchre" and was a very competitive player, he guarded his left, right up until the end. He loved to play the lotto daily, often making friends with local gas station clerks and others buying their daily tickets. He was very much a people person, and would talk to any stranger, and go out of his way to help people.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on July 22, 2022, from 2-7 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian. A Funeral Ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian. Visitation will be held in the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow.
