John Anderson Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John "Mickey" Anderson, age 76, on March 25, 2025, in Perry, Florida. Born on July 26, 1948, in Mayo, Florida, Mickey spent his life embodying the spirit of the rural South. A devoted husband to Diane Anderson, Mickey leaves behind a legacy woven into the fabric of his family and community.
Mickey was a man of many passions. He reveled in the thrill of hunting turkeys and enjoyed the companionship of his dogs while adventuring in the great outdoors. His love for riding horses and farming reflected his profound connection to nature and the land he cherished. Beyond his pursuits, Mickey was a remarkable storyteller, captivating those who gathered around him with tales that painted vivid pictures of life's adventures.
Mickey's legacy is carried on by his beloved spouse of 57 years, Diane, and by the joyful memories he created with his grandchildren, like getting "bear hugs" from them, who were his pride and joy. He will be remembered not only for his achievements as a building supply manager but also for the warmth and humor he brought into the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Edna Anderson, his sister Brenda Hamrick, his grandson "Lil" Ben Anderson, two daughters in law Dana Anderson and Carolyn Russell.
He is survived by his loving wife Diane, three children Brent Anderson, Brad Anderson and his wife Cindy, and Ben Anderson, nine grandchildren Shayne, Shon, Blake, Brady, Brenton, Bryce, Averie, Weston, and Riley, his brothers Don Anderson, and Rocky Anderson, his sisters Mary Whiddon, and Sug Sessions.
A celebration of Mickey's life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11:00 at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home in Perry with Pastors David McMullen and Tommy Lundy officiating. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service.
In this time of sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Mickey's spirit will live on through the stories shared and the love that endures. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
