John J. Anderson, 94, of Erie, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born in Erie on November 17, 1930, a son of the late Jack Anderson.
John worked hard and was very proud of his 41 years as a lineman for Penelec. To the day of his passing he could tell you how to rewire a house or stories about dodging lightning while working up high on a telephone pole.
John loved and cherished his family. He had six children of his own and opened his home to two more. His good heart, hard work, ethics and sense of humor were trade marks of just who he was. His life was an inspiration that molded and left a positive imprint on all his children and everyone who knew him.
Thanks for being a great Dad, Papa & friend and for all you've given us all your life!!
John loved and spoiled all his puppies!! He enjoyed hunting with his sons, nephews and friends at his camp in Pittsfield. He loved and rode motorcycles all his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley L. Fuhrman Anderson; his son, Lawrence Anderson; his daughter, Debra Shaw; his grandson, Eric Anderson; his brothers, Chuck, Ed, and Ray Anderson; and his sister, Marge Leo.
He is survived by his daughters, Patty Anderson and Kathy Tarasovitch, both of Erie; his sons, Jack Anderson (Debra) of Oxnard, CA, Dave Anderson (Melinda) of Union City, Michael Anderson of Erie; and Phil Brown (Carol) of Greenfield Twp; his daughter-in-law, Christine Anderson of Erie; his grandchildren, Matt, Brent, Laurie, Cheri, Christopher, Cody, Renee, Lisa, Andy, and Cathy Ann; his great-grandchildren, Mia, Delaney, Lyla, Parker, Blake, Easton, Mason, Steele, Wyatt, Kylie, Alex, and Evan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call at the Russell C. Schmidt and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, Pa 16504 on Friday, March 21 from 4 pm to 7 pm and are invited to a Funeral Mass at St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 15 at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Mount of Olives Cemetery.

Love this picture of Uncle Jack. It is sad knowing they are all gone now. I am sure he is rejoicing in heaven to be reunited with Aunt Shirl. My dad certainly had a big "hey, Coke" for him too. What great memories I have of our families together at camp and the reunions growing up. Peace to you.
