Jo Marie Ham Draper, 79, of Asheville, NC, passed away August 24, 2023. Jo was born to the late Numa Ross Ham Jr. and Rachel Flinchum Ham. She graduated from Greensboro Senior High School and attended Guilford College. She lived in Bent Creek, Asheville for the last 51 years. Jo loved making all sorts of food, crafts, enjoyed antiques, RV camping, fishing, decorating her own home down to her dollhouse, and hummingbird's mobiles (which the dollhouse and Hummingbird hobby have been passed on to her third grandchild, Kelsey Marie), Jo was also an avid bird enthusiast, and Jo was so proud of her home, yard work and gardening and family. Most of all, Jo loved hosting Birthdays, holidays, and gatherings for her friends and most importantly for her family she loved so much at her home. Surviving Jo is her husband of 54 years, Edwin Draper; sons, Richard Taft Draper (wife, Elizabeth) of Asheville, NC, Troy Numa Draper (wife, Amanda) of Fairview, NC; brother, Richard "Rick" Numa Ham of Travelers Rest, SC; granddaughters, Lilly G. Draper of Asheville, NC, Kelsey Marie Draper of Fairview, NC; grandson, Seth P. Draper of Asheville, NC; and her sweet little Shih Tzu Jo loved so much, Miss Muffin. Jo Marie will always be known for such a loving heart- she put everyone ahead of herself. Jo Marie is known for all her endless handwritten thank you notes and love towards everyone and everything, especially her amazing friends, family, and Muffin her dog! Jo was a dedicated and loving wife; You are the best mom a son could ever have! God Bless You Mom A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept 10, 2023 at 2pm at Acton Methodist Church in Candler with Rev. Roger Reardon officiating. Donations in Jo's memory (or in lieu of flowers donations) can be made to Support Our Annual Fund - for loggerhead turtles or to the Asheville Arboretum.
