Jesse William Harris, Sr., 69, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on January 6, 1956, in Danville, Kentucky, Jesse's life was a testament to the joy and laughter he brought to those around him.
Jesse's early years in Danville laid the foundation for a life full of love and dedication to family. His career as a truck driver for UPS, and previously at JB Hunt, was marked by the same commitment and hard work he applied to all aspects of his life. Jesse's involvement with his work community extended beyond his professional duties, as he was always ready to lend a helping hand or share a joke to lighten the mood. Beyond his work, Jesse was an avid UK Basketball fan, never missing a game and always ready to cheer on his beloved team. His passion for life was also evident in his love for riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, an activity that brought him immense joy and freedom. Jesse proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam.
Those who knew Jesse will remember him as a man with a soft heart who loved his family fiercely. He would do anything for anybody, never hesitating to put the needs of others before his own. Left to cherish his memory is his grandson, Riley Denham (Catherine); siblings, Raymond, Ricky, Michael James, and Lavonne Rena Edwards; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jesse was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Bonnie Sue Harris, his parents, Raymond Woodrow and Anna Mae Harris, his daughter, Tamara Lynn Harris, his son, Jesse William Harris, Jr., his brother, Marvin David Harris, and his loyal dogs, Bud and Rocky. His current beloved dog, Buck, remains a symbol of Jesse's enduring love for his canine companions.
Jesse William Harris, Sr., will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. A funeral service for Jesse will be held at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street, Lexington, Kentucky, 40507, on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM with Pastor Jim Muncie officiating. Interment will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County, Kentucky, with family and friends to serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street, Lexington, Kentucky, 40507, is honored to be in care of service for Jesse William Harris, Sr.
