On June 14, 1994, we received a gift at our front door. His name was James Christopher, and he became our son. He was born October 22, 1993, in Walla Walla, Washington and he went to his eternal home with the Lord on June 10, 2022.
In the first year of his life, he was joined by newborn Angel, who was truly an Angel, and blessed our family so much. The following spring Tattianna joined our family and Thomas three years later. He was baptized, all in white, at Saint Anthony Parish, Laurel. He looked so beautiful!
James went to grade school at Graff School in Laurel, MT, St Francis Schools in Billings and Billings Central his freshman year. The remainder of his high school years he was homeschooled through Christian Home Educators Coop. After graduation he attended Montana Youth Challenge Academy, in Dillon, MT. He joined the Marine Corp, in June of 2012, which was a lifelong dream. He was so proud to serve his country and wear the uniform. After the Marine Corp he worked as a security guard and more recently in the field of Information Technology and computer repair, which had been a long-term goal.
James loved baseball. He showed up at the first practice dressed in catcher's gear. The coach asked if he was a catcher and he said, "no but I want to be." He was their primary catcher, which meant the world to him. James was very musical, playing the piano by ear and taught himself to play the drums, which rocked the house. We absolutely loved the music!!
James has two beautiful children Zaylie, 5 and August 2, and his spirit will surely live on in them. He was a proud papa and loved his babies. He is also survived by his parents Chris and Bob, brother Thomas, sister Tattianna, his grandmother Jeanne Berg and too many aunts, uncles, and cousins to count. He was preceded in death by grampa Connie Berg, grandma LaVonne Ulrich, grandpa Kermit Ulrich, cousin Seth Ulrich and Angel. James was oh so very loyal in his great big love for his great big family!
James will especially be remembered for his contagious smile that matched his awesome heart. He had lights in his eyes that lit up even more when he smiled. He cared deeply about others and always willing to lend a hand. We have many stories of James joyfully helping others. James was loving and loved and as we give this gift of life back to God, we are thankful and grateful for the many blessings and the time we shared with him.
The Rosary will be at Dahl Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 23rd at 5:45 PM, followed by the visitation at 6:00 PM and a funeral mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 24th.
