Ivan or "Mac" as he was known, was born in Ewing, Nebraska to Earl LeRoy McClanahan, and Hazel Belle Lichty McClanahan. He served his country in the United States Air Force right after High School for 15 years, then took up a career in Civil Service where he retired after 30 years.
In his earlier years, while raising the family in Blair, Oklahoma, he would moonlight as Santa at a local department store on weekends and evenings for years in the 60's and 70's. He was an active member of the American Red Cross spending many years teaching swimming and lifesaving. Mac was also a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts for many years, also in the 60's and 70's.
Mac loved and cared for his family. He had multiple hobbies such as fishing, photography, leather working, arrowhead hunting, and coin collecting. He also enjoyed playing card games, dominoes, and board games with his children, and would occasionally join in a game of basketball or volleyball in the yard.
Mac is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Hazel, his wife Haruko "Susie" Tsujita McClanahan, and one daughter, Hazel McClanahan Kirk. He is survived by his son Michel McClanahan and wife Carol of Moore, Ok, son Pat McClanahan and wife Kelly of Jasper, GA, and daughter Caroll McClanahan Harris of Moore, Ok.;3 brothers, Ira, Irwin, and Gary; and 1 sister, Joan, all of Nebraska;10 grandchildren: Mark, Anthony, Tyler, Chad, Evan, Kathe, Clay, Jeri, Kyle, and Chloe. 5 great grandchildren: Miles, Ellie, Jay, Ian, and a new great granddaughter arriving in November.
