Howard Shirley Obituary

Howard M. Shirley, 88, of Murrysville, passed from death into life on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, after many years of declining health, which prevented him from doing all the outdoors and active things he loved hunting and camping at the log cabin he built and riding quads through the woods. He delighted in providing rich outdoor experiences for his children and grandchildren and would have loved to have continued the tradition with his great-grandchildren. In his younger years, he rode game horses and raced off-road with EC4WDA and was a member of the Fayette County 4 Wheelers. Howard was a proud member of Operating Engineers Local #66 for 68 years. He was the beloved husband of 66 years to Carole J. Whisner Shirley. Loving father to Dale (Cynthia), Shirley, and Donna (Charles) Fackler. Devoted grandfather to Deanna (Joseph) Camut, Dana (Matthew) Grimes, Derek (Sequoia) Shirley, step-grandson Ryan (Megan) Srnik, Korie (Zachary) Fox, and Kyle (Katelyn) Fackler. Great-grandfather to Audriana and Axton Camut, Hudson, Addison, Colton, and Auston Grimes, Hazel Shirley, Margot Fox, and Grayson and Easton Fackler. Also survived by four nieces and nephews and their spouses. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward John and Goldie Marie Summerhill Shirley; sister, Judith Shirley Hilty; and two nephews, Blair and Blaine Hilty. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at All Access Church in Claridge. Arrangements entrusted to the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL), 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All Access Church, 3100 Blocks Road, Claridge, PA 15623, or to the National Arbor Society at www.arborday.org. online condolences may be shared at www.jobefuneralhome.com.
