Obituary of Herbert Edward Aldrich II
It is with great sadness we share the passing of Herbert Edward Aldrich II, who left this world peacefully on March 22, 2025 at the age of 77. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the love he shared with everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
Born on November 1, 1947 in Waterville, Maine, Herb was a kind, loving, strong, creative and joyous person who loved life. His calm demeanor and soothing presence were such great qualities of his that anyone that knew him could relate. Some of his favorite things included art, antiques, the Red Sox, and fishing adventures at North Pond, Sebec Lake, and his favorite trout pond. He had an incredible way of making people feel special, of filling a room with laughter, and of reminding us what truly matters - love, family, and kindness.
He was a devoted spouse to Carolyn Aldrich for 43 years and their love knew no bounds. He is survived by his two daughters, Amanda Burns and Heidi Benavides, his son-in-law, Mike Benavides, his grandson, Brendyn Benavides, his brother, Jim Aldrich, and his nephews, Ian and Craig Aldrich. He is now reunited with his parents, Herbert and Phyllis Aldrich, watching over us with that same warmth we will never forget.
Herb had many accomplishments in his 77 years. He graduated from Waterville Senior High School in 1966 and then from Coburn Classical Institute in 1967. When he wasn't attending classes you could find him working at Levine's clothing store. He attended Northeastern University then went on to receive a degree in Business from Thomas College in 1972. Later, he received an Art Education teaching degree from the University of Maine at Gorham. He touched so many students' lives as an art educator at Maranacook Area Community School for over 20 years, where he retired from. He spent much of his retired life, doing what he loved which included collecting and selling antiques, fishing and spending time with his grandson and the rest of his family and friends.
A celebration of Herbert Aldrich's life will be held on June 21st from 12-4pm at the Best Western Plus in Waterville, Me. In honor of his giving spirit, we ask that you would please consider making a donation in his memory to the American Diabetes Association at -
