George A. "Butch" Pate, age 69, a Coalgate residence since 1996, passed away on May 16, 2022 at the age of 69.
He was born to Johnnie Joe and Audra E. (Kirkman) Pate on February 8, 1953.
Butch is survived by his wife Dana Pate, his son Johnie Pate with wife Tera and their children and grandchildren, his son Cody Pate with wife Fallon and their children, his daughter Jade Pate and her daughter, his stepson Zac Wyzard and his daughters, stepson Austin Wyzard, his sister Patsy Cuzalina, and his brother Johnnie Joe Pate with his wife Marsha.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents John and Audra Pate, his brothers Tom Pate, Kenneth Pate, Mike Pate, and sister Joan Frasquez.
Butch graduated from Wilburton High School in 1971, then received his Bachelor's in nursing from Baylor University in 1976.
Butch retired from the Fenton Motor Group in 2016 after a long successful career.
Butch and Dana enjoyed 16 wonderful years together as they blended their families and welcomed many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Butch's home was often a safe haven for friends of his kids, or children and grandchildren that needed a retreat.
Butch could fix anything. He became a master Craftsman as he and his wife remodeled their Coalgate home. After retiring Butch learned to cook and was a great chef. He made the best pies and most beautiful cakes! He built many hot rods, and some award winning show cars over the years. Butch enjoyed drag racing and rodeoing in his younger years. He even went back to racing dirt track cars at Oklahoma Sports Park with his wife in 2008 and 2009. After retiring Butch enjoyed boating, camping and riding fast jet skis with his family. Spending summers at the lake became his favorite hobby.
Butch always said his family were his best friends. That proved true when his first grandson, Justin "Hotdog" Pate, was born. He was his best buddy in the whole wide world.
He often cared for his grandchildren with loving care, giving them nicknames. Kennedy "I1" Pate and Madison "I2" O'Dea were the first grandchildren to be loved by Papa. Hotdog was born next, followed by his sister Kaylee "KP" Pate. He took his granddaughters Ava "Angel Baby 2" Wyzard and Gracie "T-Bird" Wyzard to many Coalgate football games and dance lessons, and helped care for them while their father worked. In most recent years he was the caregiver for his youngest granddaughter Josey "JoJo" Pate while her momma, the original "Angel Baby" worked.
There is an emptiness left behind with his leaving, but that's just because he filled us all with so much love. That love will be passed on to the next generation of "best friends" so they can continue to pass it on as we honor George, Butch, Butchie, Pops, Dad, Grandpa, Paw Butch, Papa and friend.
There will be a private service for family and close friends to be scheduled in the near future at the Pate home.
