Obituary of Ernest Romero
Ernest Romero was born in Tierra Amarilla on September 17th, 1939 and passed June 6th, 2022.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margarita Romero. He also leaves behind his children Sylvia, Mary-Lou, JoAnn, Marty, and Manuel, as well as his Eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Ernest was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 40 years and helped his fellow members in many ways.
He was a cook and chef who served kitchens in several states such as New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, and more.
This gave him the opportunity to prepare meals for many famous actors and musicians.
He also enjoyed volunteering for family and friends as the cook for holidays and celebrations.
On days off his children tell stories of fishing trips making life long memories.
In later years he enjoyed a nice drink on his porch with neighborhood friends. Every person who knows him has a different memory or story that bonded them. I believe all who knew him have the same word to describe him, stubborn. That stubbornness brought along strength, passion and resilience. Which qualities were passed on to his family. His love was shown by his generosity, and jokes.
So when you smell good food coming from a kitchen remember his love for cooking. When you drink a cold beer think of his smile as he laughed on his porch with people he cared about. When you hear Spanish music playing picture his wife and him dancing away. When you close your eyes hear his voice telling you "why are you here" and know that's his way of saying he loves you. He is greatly loved and will be missed.
