Emma Marlene (Mansfield) Flickinger passed away at her home in Wellington, KS on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the age of 88. She was born November 10, 1933 at Hatcher Hospital in Wellington, KS to Chester James Mansfield and Emma Melvina (Johnson) Mansfield. Marlene was raised in Argonia, KS, graduated from Argonia High School in 1951 and attended one year at Southwestern College, Winfield, KS.
Through the years she worked for the Danville Co-op, Union National Bank, First National Bank of Wichita, and Federal Government (ASCS) where she retired after more than thirty years of service.
On June 6, 1954, Marlene was united in marriage to Donald R. Flickinger. From this union was born their only daughter, Mardon' (Flickinger) Sirmons.
Marlene was very active in the Order of Eastern Star, achieving her sixty years of membership.
She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and remained very active until she was no longer able. While attending in Argonia many years ago, she taught Sunday School to children who are now grandparents. Marlene was a member of the United Methodist Women, Ruth Circle, Searchers Sunday School Class and was a charter member to the Bellaires Handbell Choir, ringing for the glory of God. Her church involvement didn't stop there as she held several offices in the church including Chair of Trustees.
Marlene was a people person and enjoyed visiting wherever she went, and often visited persons in the nursing homes and assisted living facility here in Wellington.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her loving husband Don; her daughter and son-in-law, Mardon' and Skeet Sirmons of Wellington; sister-in-law Norvella Burnett of Conway Springs; nieces, Linda Adams (Jerry) of Florida and Marsha Harrelson of Conway Springs; nephew, Jerry Burnett (Tammy) of Conway Springs and their families along with Ashley and Jacob Ewing, who are and remain loved as grandchildren.
She had a deep faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and expressed her readiness for her trip to Heaven.
Marlene was a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend to many. She will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of family and many, many friends forever.
Memorial services for Marlene will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington, Kansas. Interment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be given in her loving name to the First United Methodist Church, 202 West Harvey Avenue, Wellington, KS 67152 or the OES Scholarship Fund c/o Grandchapter of Kansas OES, 2375 Avenue X, Sterling, KS 67579. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
