Donna Smith Obituary

Donna Lee Smith, a cherished mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend, who left this world on July 9, 2025, at the age of 66, following a short but incredibly brave fight against cancer. Donna was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 5, 1959, to the late Edward and Irene Simunic (nee Dirk).
Donna is survived by her beloved children, Nicole Smith (Elie Hasrouni), Russell Smith, and Tara Summers, who will forever hold her memory close. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to her four grandchildren: Donovan, Domonic, Jillian, and Devon, who brought her immense joy and happiness. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings Eddie (Cookie) Simunic and Maxine Kapluck, dear Uncle Denny (Gayle) Dirk, former spouse and friend Russell Smith, along with several nieces and nephews that adored their loving aunt.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, and her brother, Larry Simunic.
Donna was a vibrant force of nature, who loved being outdoors and spent countless hours nurturing her garden. Her green thumb was a reflection of her nurturing spirit. A true people person, Donna was always on the move, filling every moment with laughter and love. She especially loved the connections she made Gabe's Family Restaurant. In addition to her passion for gardening, she enjoyed crocheting, creating beautiful handmade pieces for her family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate and honor her remarkable life on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM, at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home, located at 35400 Curtis Blvd, Eastlake, OH 44095. A funeral service will follow immediately at 7 PM, where we will rejoice in the love she shared and the legacy she leaves behind lead by Pastor Donald Beaumont of Bethel Lutheran Church in Willowick.
