I knew David since 1965 as incoming freshmen at Greenville College. We lived in the same house for two years and were roommates as seniors.
One weekend he came to visit my home with another GC basketball player. Dave was 6'6" and wore a size 16EEE shoe. As we visited around the kitchen table, he discovered my youngest sister underneath trying to measure his foot with a yardstick! We all had a good laugh, and Dave as usual was good natured about it.
I visited Dave in Michigan a couple times and saw him many times at GC Homecoming and other events.
More recently my wife Carolyn, daughter Miranda, and I visited Dave on Mackinac Island in 2019. He let Carolyn and I "pilot" the "Wild Honey" on Lake Huron.
IN 2021 Carolyn & I and several GC classmates came to Mackinac for a mini-reunion. As always Dave was a gracious host, setting up events and activities for us all.
He was late for every event. He said he was just on "island time." I knew better; he had been on "island time" since 1965!
His passing was a sobering moment. He was 75 with heart issues. I'm 74 with heart issues. How much longer do I have? Or any of us have?
On that note, I encourage all of our generation, if you haven't already , to agree with God that you're a sinner, trust Jesus as the One Who died for your sins, and confess Jesus as your Savior.
From my experience, it is the best decision a human being can make.
Dave was my friend for over 57 years. He was maybe the most polite person I ever knew. I never heard him swear. I never saw him get mad. He apparently went to church every Sunday.
These things give me hope that he had a relationship with his Maker and that I will see him in heaven. Until then, I will miss him.

David was a chrismatic individual. Always smiling and talking about his latest volunteer effort which he was alway involved. He was a giant of a man and will be missed. RIP.

I remember David vividly (MI). He always let me pet his dog. Probably died of a broken heart from losing him. He was a very nice man
