DAVID MICHAEL MURPHY
Murphy, David Michael, of Eden Prairie, passed away peacefully in his sleep in his home at the age of 66 on May 19, 2022, with loving wife Pam by his side.
Preceded in death by parents, Kay and Chuck, brother Tom, and sister Kathy.
Survived by Pam, loving wife of 43 years, brother Bob (Diane), son Ryan (Tracy), daughter Christie, grandson Chase and granddaughter Logan, and many nieces and nephews.
Lifelong resident of the Twin Cities (Edina, Bloomington, and Eden Prairie) and graduate of Edina High School 1974.
"The Inverter Guy" to many of his clients, but so much more, Dave founded Prairie Equipment Company. A successful business of more than 30 years, in the field of Equipment Sales with customers ranging from contractors, to Utility providers, to Municipalities (city, county, and state). Dave was proud to have his son step in and be a key part of keeping the business going shortly after first being diagnosed, and going on to manage the business successfully himself in the years that followed. It's an amazing legacy, and one that runs in the family a bit, with Dave's father, Chuck, also being a co-founding member of the successful Bloomington based "Hayden-Murphy Equipment", that still is operating today.
Dave and wife Pam most enjoyed spending time at Head of Lakes Resort, on Lake Osakis in MN near Alexandria, where they had a trailer for over 16 years before eventually moving to a small cabin right next door to the resort, which was great for them as their favorite thing to do up there was/is visit with their many amazing friends at the Resort.
As Pam retired 2 years ago, they enjoyed the opportunity to head up on a Thursday and not come home till Monday, as well as spending a couple of weeks there once or twice during each summer. Living their own dream.
In the last 4 years since being diagnosed, Dave and Pam have also enjoyed seeing their Grandson (Chase) grow to the age of 5, and also welcomed a new granddaughter (Logan, now age 3, sister to Chase). Dave and Pam have had them over for many fun (and messy) sleepover weekends and also have seen them enjoy the fun of Lake Osakis many times as well.
The family is so grateful for the wonderful outpouring of support from their family, their "lake friends", as well as all of their other amazing friends picked up along the pathway of life between grade school and today.
Services will be held Friday June 3rd, with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM, Service at 11:30 AM, at Washburn-McReavy in Eden Prairie at 7625 Mitchell Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to University of MN Foundation: Masonic Cancer Center or Special Olympics Minnesota.
