Muncie – Craig R. Mathis, 50, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at AMG Specialty Hospital in Muncie.
He was born in Anderson on August 3, 1971, the son of James H. and Bernice (Sutton) Mathis and later graduated from Daleville High School.
Craig attended and graduated from Ball State University with a degree in History. He was a talented tattoo artist and currently worked at Black Sword Alliance. His art will live on in thousands of works of art he has helped envision and create.
Craig was the owner of Doodles by Craig, making hand painted tumblers. He loved video games, board games and history, especially World War II history.
Craig was also a lover of cats, often rescuing and nurturing any found in his neighborhood.
Survivors include his wife of eighteen years, Lori Mathis; his son, Abel; brother, Tony Mathis; mother-in-law, Tammy Kiddle; aunt, Georgie (Mathis) Weldon; nieces, Amanda Mathis and Gina Vaird; three sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; a great-nephew, Malakai; great-niece, Maya; along with several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation will take place and no services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a trust c/o Cornerstone Financial Advisors, Inc., 9000 Keystone Crossing, Suite 110, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
