Christopher Nathan Brown was born July 15, 1981, and passed from this life March 5, 2025. Chris is a graduate of Altus High school and served 13 years in the United States Air Force where he earned his bachelor's degree in business. Chris received an honorable medical discharge and retired as an E5 Staff Sergeant.
Chris loved music and played the guitar and recently, the piano. Just listening to him play his guitar, you felt his love for music and the joy it brought him. While recently in Temple, Texas he didn't have access to his guitar and taught himself to play the piano. Many would gather around to hear him play.
At age 12 Chris attended an event in Altus called Judgement House where he accepted Christ into his life. In John 10:10 Jesus said, "I have come that you might have life and have it to the full." Chris displayed this fullness of life in joy-filled ways. He was magnetic, humorous, and gave generously of himself to others. He loved his family and his family loved him.
Oftentimes he would make sacrifices for his family. While deployed to Iraq he took military leave to bring his wife and daughters to gather with other family members over Christmas. On another occasion he took three days of vacation to bring his family to Ulysses, Kansas to help empty out his grandparents' house after the death of his Papa (Bill Brown). These are just two examples of his nature to give to others.
Chris is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Shirley Brown. He is survived by his two beautiful daughters, Kaitlyn and Cara; his parents, Jim and Sharon Brown, and Todd Ervin; his brothers, Jeff Brown and wife, Sara, with their children, Liam and Emma, Daniel and Brown, and Caleb Brown and fiancee, Victoria Walker, and her son, Hayden; grandparents, Robert and Linda Killebrew; uncles, Larry Killebrew and wife, Beverly, and their family, and Bob Brown and wife, Jana, and their family; as well as many cousins and other relatives who will grieve his passing.
Sharon and I (Jim) are blessed to live in Altus and receive the love, comfort, and support from a community that knows how to care for one another. Thank you.
A celebration of Chris's life will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with his father, Jim Brown, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Service and arrangements are under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chris's name to the Lifeline for Vets at nvf.org/veterans-donations or to the Lifewise Academy at give.lifewise.org.
