Cherri Jones Obituary

Cherri L. Jones, age 63, of Garber, formerly of Laurens, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. A Celebration of Life for Cherri will be held from 2 - 5 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Hinde Community Center, 20 SW 1st St, Pocahontas, IA 50574.

Cherri Lynn Ballard was born December 15, 1962, in Redwood City, CA. She was the daughter of Arthur Lyle and Dorothy Darlene (Griffin) Ballard. Cherri was raised in Fremont, CA where she attended Azevada Elementary School from 1968 to 1977. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1981 and worked for Mervyn's as a retail associate and later at Len Martin Corp, processing clothing shipments for Macy's. On July 13, 1985, Cherri was united in marriage to Peter Jones at Weibel Winery near Mission San Jose, CA. The couple moved briefly to Stockton, CA and settled down in Manteca, CA to start a family. Cherri and her family relocated to Laurens, IA in 2001 when her husband, Peter, was transferred to continue working for Pengo. The couple moved to Garber, IA in 2020.

Cherri was a lifelong Oakland Raiders fan. She enjoyed Koala bear collectibles of all sorts, plastic canvas, needlework and other crafts.

Survivors include her husband, Peter Jones of Garber; sons, Sean (Nicole) Jones of Ponca, NE and David Jones of Jackson, MN; daughters, Candace (Brian) Nath of Laurens and Brittany (Spencer) Vacura of Jackson, MN; grandchildren, Brittany (Johnathon) Williams, Jacob Nath, Anthony Jones, Samuel Jones, Serenity Nath, KaraLynn Jones, Noah Nath, Zoey Singleton, MariAnne Jones, Avalon Jones, Charlotte Jones and Ariya Nath; step-mother, Jan Ballard of Simi Valley, CA, and a sister, Suzanne Wade of California.

Cherri was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Darlene Ballard, and a grandson, Matthew Nath.
