The sun rose in San Antonio, Texas on April 4, 1944, bringing a new day and a new life. Thus, the book of life opened for Charles L. Thompson, the son of Ida Mae Paige-Thompson and Garthie "Big Hoppie" Thompson who both preceded him in death. He was the oldest son of nine children born to this union.
At age 9, Charles and his family relocated to La Grange, Texas and joined Peaceful Rest Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the Colorado River. Upon his return to San Antonio, He served as a Deacon and sang in the Senior Choir for over 54 years combined. 24 years at St Peters Baptist Church and 30 years at Hosack Ave Baptist Church. Charles was a gifted soloist often singing solos and leading Devotion Ministry and Congregational songs with his gifted vocals. He also was member of two Gospel Singing Groups: The Leslie Foster Community Echoes and The Inter-Denominational Mass Choir.
Charles attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School in San Antonio, Texas for his elementary education. He was a graduate of Randolph High School and attended St Phillips College specializing in Auto Mechanics and Truck Driving. Charles was employed by HEB working as a Truck Driver. He retired after 33 years of faithful service.
April 4, 1964, Charles married Ruby Jewel Williams, as this union strengthened and developed two children were born, Kimberly Charmayne Thompson-Moore and Everett Charles Thompson.
Charles was gifted with a plethora of abilities. As mentioned before, he loved singing, fishing, truck driving and most of all spending time with his family.
On the morning of Saturday, January 11, 2025, Charles heard the voice of Jesus say "Come Unto to Me and Rest." He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Brothers: Willie Ray and Raymond Thompson, and Sister: Jerline Logan.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 60 years, Ruby Thompson, also embracing fond memories are his Brothers: Edward Paige; Melvin Thompson (Pam); Sisters: Earline Thompson; Gloria Ann Paige (Rob); Linda Johnson; Children: Kimberly Thompson-Moore and Everett Charles Thompson; Special Relatives: Michelle Willrich Hopkins, Monica Mitchell, Mo' Neese Davis; Grandchildren: La Quarren Thompson, Charmar Adams, Charles Everett Thompson, Thomas Thompson and a host of Great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family members, the gospel community and dear friends.
