HIS JOURNEY...
Charles Rennick Corsey, son of Ivory M. Corsey and the late Edward L. Corsey, was born on July 16, 1957, in Preston, Maryland. He departed this life on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Tidal Health Nanticoke in Seaford, Delaware.
Renny, as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Caroline County public school system. He graduated from Colonel Richardson High School in 1975. While in high school, he worked at Tidewater Inn on the weekends.
In 1976, Renny enlisted in the Army National Guard. Upon completion of his basic training, he served seven years in the Army National Guard Military Reserve. In February 1976, he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Louisiana. On April 16, 1976, he was a member of Platoon 4 at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
Throughout his life, Renny worked at various companies which included, Allen Foods, Coldwater, and at various companies as a counselor. His last counseling job was at Warwick Manor Behavior Health Center where he received several awards. Mentoring young men was his passion. He loved them and they loved him.
Renny was raised in a strong Christian home and attended Sunday School and was a member of the Junior Choir at Coppins A.M.E. Church. As an adult, he continued his membership at Coppins and gave his support. He was a loving and kind person who helped anyone he could. Renny loved his family and his Thunderguard Brothers. He was a member of the Preston Thunderguards for 47 years where he held the positions of Vice-President and President.
On August 25, 1984, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Loretta Cannon, and together they raised their son Shannon in a loving home.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Henry and Gladys May and Edwin and Mary Corsey; two sisters, Diana (Vickie) Corsey-Brown and Gail Thomas; sister-in-law, Yolanda Corsey; uncles, John and Harold May, Thomas Corsey, Rudolph Boyce and Kenneth Robertson and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cleo and Frederick Nichols.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Loretta Corsey; one daughter, Jenelle Sutton; two sons, Shannon Cannon and Arthur Williams; two grandchildren, Jazmyne Sampson and Sincere Sutton; two sisters, Joana Pinckens (Cedric) and Dazaree Shabazz; three brothers, Edward Garnett (Rosita), Garry, Sr. and Wendell (Dimeta) Corsey; two aunts, Velma Robertson and Frances Corsey; two adopted brothers, Victor Corsey and Carlton George; godchildren, Shawnta Corsey, LaMaya Evans and Dimir Pennington; six sisters-in-law, Lavern May, Veronica Camper (Gary), D. Lynn Bowden (Jerry), Yvette Cannon (Lori), Wanda Molock (Danny) and Brenda Crumble; one brother-in-law, Lamont Cannon and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and his Thunderguard brothers.
