Brianna Renee Bentley
04/02/1999 – 02/09/2022
On Wednesday, February 9th while surrounded by love and support a bright star burned out. Brianna had been battling Ewing sarcoma for the last 5 years. No matter what the world threw at her she always approached it with strength, grace, and humor. She loved nothing more than her family, her friends and her food. When she started cancer treatment, she told her doctors that she would be the fattest kid on chemo they had ever seen. That statement showed just who she was. Wise beyond the 22 years she was gifted to all of us on earth. It didn't matter how you were related or not related she loved with her whole being that everyone was immediate family to her, and you felt that too. She was just too special to spend any more time here with us. Brianna was a very faithful person and prayed every day. She very much knew in her heart that when her time came, she would be in heaven with her family, and friends that had passed on before her. Brianna was born in New Market, TN. She grew up and attended Perry schools in Perry, MI. Her life even before the cancer diagnosis was not what you would call smooth sailing. Due to her illnesses she was never able to finish high school or get her driver's license but they were things she was working toward because they were important to her. She was such an intelligent and gifted person that she blew our minds everyday with her many talents like, teaching herself to play the piano, draw, or whatever else she wanted to dabble in. While she worked on those, she spent time doing the things she loved like shopping, taking care of Alivia, and playing pranks on people. She was evermore the jokester first and foremost, because she loved to make people laugh. Even if the people laughing were not the ones she just played the prank on. When she started her treatment at the Helen Devos Children's hospital in Grand Rapids right after she turned 18, she quickly won over the entire staff there. She participated in Music therapy teaching herself to play the ukulele. She was a fierce competitor in any games she played with the nurses or child life specialists. Even when she was not there for an overnight stay on the 9th floor but just in for a quick check up. She would always be greeted by a parade of staff coming through to say their hellos. Brianna's personality was so infectious; you just could not help but want to be around her or near her. Each time that she showed up at the hospital, you could count on a couple of things, first that she always had her Batman blanket and her stuffed animals. Second, that no matter what reason she was coming in for she would always have a smile on. Third, that she was scoping out the staff to see who was going to be the first to fall victim to her card shark ways. She leaves behind her loving and dedicated fiancé Danny Godfrey, who stood by her through it all giving her strength when she needed extra. Her Loving and dedicated mother Patricia (Josh), Loving Father Edward (Tracey) Bentley, Loving brother Eddy (Audrey), Bonus Sister Amanda(Josh) Browning. Her chosen sisters Sydney Shaft and Katherine Cole. Her grandparents grandpa Allen and Chris, Grandma and Grandpa Raven, Grandma Bentley. Her Uncle David (Summer), Aunt Angela (James) Shaft, Aunt Suzanne Lytle, Aunt Michele (Pat) Allen, Uncle Mike Allen. Her niece Alivia Bentley, nephews Ethan Browning and Johnathan Browning. Her cousins Mitchel (Alexander) Fry, Mason (Mary) Allen, Ashley Allen, David Allen II, Joseph Rivera, Dekoda Shaft, Luciano Rivera, Austin Lytle, Ashley Lytle, Nick Allen, Ryan(Hailey) Allen, Lee Ann(Scotty) Roche, Kathy Mullins. Her many other extended family such as her great uncles, great aunts, 2nd and 3rd cousins. Being that she touched so many beyond family, she also leaves behind her inherited family through Danny who were there to love, support, and treat her as their own. Her Cole family who came to visit with her and keep her company while she was staying in the hospital. Her Whiskey Barrel Bar family that she came to know and love while she helped her mom and grandpa out. Her hospital family who took losing her as a hard hit because they all loved her so much. Her Perry friends who she did or did not stay in contact with but you always knew she still held a place in her heart for. Her crowns of Courage and Ewing Sarcoma family who were so amazingly supportive of both her and her family through her journey. She is proceeded in death by her Uncle Charles Powers, Grandma Allen, Grandpa Bentley, great-grandma and great grandpa Stasi, Nana and Papa Hudson. Brianna's cremation will be handled by the Mills Funeral Home, Peters and Murray Chapel in Grand Ledge, MI.
The Service and Celebration of Life will be held at the Perry Church of the Nazarene on February 26, 2022 at 11am. The church is located at 3100 Ellsworth Rd, Perry MI. In Lieu of flowers, Danny and the family ask that you donate to the gofundme page set up to cover funeral expenses.
