Our hearts are broken to announce the passing of Amy Rae Bentley, of Harrison, on January 20, 2022, at the age of 52.
Amy was born to George D and Rose M (nee Holwadel) Bentley on July 18, 1969. She was a graduate of McCulley High School. Amy was a very selfless person with a heart of gold. Family was very important to her, and she was always there to help them or anyone who was in need. Every Christmas Amy found great joy in giving gifts to the police station to be handed out to those less fortunate in our community. Amy learned from her mom, Rose, to buy the things that people needed, and others might not think to buy. Amy loved riding on Phil's Harley motorcycle. At first, she didn't like the idea at all, but once he got her on for a ride, she was hooked.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother: Rose Bentley; fiancé: Phil Mortashed and children Ryan and Sarah, who adored Amy and loved her as a bonus mom; Dog: Hank; sisters: Rita (Randy) Hart and Kim (Randy) Caldwell; nieces: Kisha Pierson and Mindy Adams; nephew: Aaron Garcia; Aunt: Shirley Hassertt; cousin: Dawn McNamara.
Amy was preceded in death by her father: George Bentley
Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, on January 25, 2022, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at Miamitown Cemetery at 11 AM. If you want to go in procession with Amy and her family to the cemetery, meet at the funeral home at 10:30 am. We will proceed from the funeral home to the cemetery.
Amy loved animals and she adopted her dog Hank from PAWS of Dearborn County so the family would like donations to go there or to Pathways to Home, which Amy would help supply them with food for those in the community that needed it most.
