HENRY – Bernard "Bernie" J. Brozak, 76, of Henry, passed away on March 1, 2024 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held on April 13th at The American Legion in Henry from 1-3pm. Drinks immediately following at Bernie's favorite hang out, Lip's Barracks in Henry.
Memorials may be given to Gateway Service Inc., 406 S. Gosse Blvd, Princeton, IL 61356.
Bernie was born on January 8, 1948, in Streator, a son to Michael and Alice (Nowakowski) Brozak.
Surviving are his children, Michael (Terra) Brozak of Henry, Renae (Andrew) Killen of Portola Valley, CA, Brodie Brozak of Henry; Grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, and Todd Brozak, and Madison and Max Killen; and 1 brother, Edgar (Cathy) Brozak of Streator. He also leaves behind his two loyal canine companions, Nola & Mellow.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bernie grew up in Streator, IL where he graduated from Streator Township High School. He then graduated from DeVry University with a degree in Electronic Technology. He worked at the steel mill in Hennepin for over 30 years. He also drove for Gateway Service Inc., a job he loved because of all of the people he got to meet and help. He was known to play Santa Clause and loved surprising the kids in the community. He attended the Henry United Methodist Church. He was a partner in Extreme Backyard Fireworks in Sparland. In the past he loved to take his boat out on the Illinois River with The Beach Boys blaring on the radio. He loved his cars & attending car shows. He had a passion for Corvettes, & had quite the collection of die-cast Corvettes. Bernie was also an extra in the movie, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" partially filmed in Henry, IL in 1979.
