Wynn Poss Obituary

Wynn Poss, aka Pooh, Pooh Bear, Ole Pooh, Grand Pooh, Uncle Pooh, passed from his earthly home on Friday afternoon, July 8, 2022. His daughter, Jennifer, was next to him as the Lord called him home after a sudden battle of metastatic carcinoma. There will be a viewing from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2022 at Robert Massie Funeral Home with family visitation from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.. The celebration of Wynn's colorful and joyful life will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor Mike Dorman, associate pastor at Emanual Baptist Church, officiating. A farewell graveside will follow at Fairmont Cemetery. Michael Wynn Poss was born at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo on October 17, 1949 to Mary Wesley Ballard Poss and Chester Poss. He attended several schools in San Angelo, graduating from San Angelo Central High School in 1968. His buoyant personality was evident at an early age. He was a big-hearted character who intrigued people with life discussions. From an early age, he worked for his Uncle Harry and Aunt Clem in their trucking business. In the 1970s, he moved to Big Spring to be closer to his brother, Delnor, and his family. He began his professional career during that time. Always a hard worker, Wynn toiled and learned his way up in the oil field, specializing in pump equipment and maintenance. He moved to Midland in the early 1980s and quickly displayed his skills in the industry. He started the prosperous company, Wynn Pump & Supply, Inc. as well as Poss & Partners Weed Control, LLC. Wynn was recognized as an expert in oil production treatment and was fascinating to listen and learn from. He later sold his businesses, moving toward a different direction in oil field maintenance selling chemical treatments for Omega Treating Chemicals, Inc., which he retired from after almost 25 years of dedicated service. Throughout his oil field career, Wynn was an avid supporter of Midland College Athletics. After retirement, he began building his dream home by the Concho River. He loved listening to the water falling off the dam, riding in his buggy on the property and watching the animals pour in for feedings. Wynn loved his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters; Sue Poss Gallagher and husband Eugene and Cheryl Poss Ricci; his sister-in-law, Martha Howerton Poss. He is survived by his only daughter, Jennifer Poss Taylor and husband David; his three beloved grandchildren, Ashley Wynn Taylor, Grant Lassetter Taylor, and Brooke Elizabeth Taylor; his older brother, Delnor Poss; his niece, Lisa Ricci Brown and husband Russell; four nephews, Nathan Poss, Del Poss and wife Peggy, Mark Poss and wife Maria, and Albert Ricci; and a multitude of wonderful cousins as well as great nieces and a great nephew. Thank you to some of his wonderful buddies for being pallbearers; Monte Allison, Robert Kennedy, Jimmy Kennedy, Ricky McGehee, Billy Hobbs, James Riley, Wilson Zaya, Guy Yocham, Jeff Waldrop, Brian Ballard. Honorary pallbearers will be; David Taylor, Grant Taylor, Nathan Poss, Del Poss, Mark Poss, Albert Ricci, and Russell Brown. Afterward, family and friends are invited to Pooh Corner for lunch. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to West Texas Rehab - Hospice of San Angelo, for their loving care during Wynn's illness. westtexasrehab.org/memorial-donation

I am sorry to lose a friend. He always had a story, and a smile on his face, and the glass was always half full.

Wynn was & is one of my very best friends. Wynn was like a "Big Brother" to me. A couple of years ago, long before he was diagnosed with a terminal illness, Wynn shared with me his belief in Jesus Christ and the " good news " of Jesus Christ Gospel. I know Wynn is in Heaven and I hope and pray to be there with Wynn someday! All my love and prayers go out to Jennifer and her heartbroken family . With as all my Love and Prayers, Sincerely! Dudley
