I was privileged to be in Miss Averitt“s choir in 1966 and 1967. She was a wonderful teacher and director. I was privileged in later years to be in the Alumni Choir in which she was one of the directors. I will always remember her fondly.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Ms. Averitt (as I knew her). She was a classy lady and an excellent teacher (who showed no small measure of patience with an unnamed student, who is saddened at her passing). My deep and sincere condolence to her entire surviving family, as well as to dear friends, and fellow teachers.
