Barbara Groover Obituary

Barbara Melton Groover passed away on December 31, 2024 with her children by her side. She was born on October 17, 1945 in Lakeland, Florida. She attended Florida State University, and subsequently spent many years cultivating her career and raising her children in Florida. Over 30 years ago, Barbara moved to Madison, Georgia where she was actively involved in the community and developed cherished friendships. She will be dearly remembered for her fondness of organizing celebrations for birthdays, holidays, weekends, or weekdays that were complete with festive outfits and wigs.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Groover Streelman (Todd), Atlanta, Georgia; son, Julian Groover, Madison, Georgia; and brother, Bill Melton (Marie). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Landon Groover and Archer and Seamus Streelman.

A memorial service will be held on January 18, 2025 at 11 am at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Madison, Georgia.

I was so sad to hear of her passing . She helped us with the sale of the Madison Hardware Store where my husband Gary Hudson I renovated the building turning it into our home and studio space. She will always have a place in my heart.
