Phillip Shaw Obituary

Phillip Shaw
July 3, 1975 - June 13, 2022
Lawton, Oklahoma - Phillip Daniel Shaw, 46 years of age, passed away on June 13, 2022. He touched the lives of many and will be missed every day.
Phillip was born in Modesto, CA on July 3, 1975 to Marilyn and Pat Shaw. Phil was a Modesto native who attended Roosevelt Junior High and Grace M. Davis High School. After playing college baseball for several years, he graduated from California State University Long Beach with a degree in communications. He was passionate about baseball from a young boy and played as a catcher and coached into adulthood where he formed a competitive baseball team called the Stanislaus County Dirtbags. Phil married Jaime Shaw, on June 8, 2002 and they have two children together, Avery and Rawley Shaw.
Phil was a devoted father and family member and will always be remembered for his big personality. He was the one you could hear in a group of people and always wanted to make people laugh. Phil was a friend to everyone and his friends meant everything to him. His passion for baseball was a big part of his life and why he was such a "team player". Phil loved music of all genres, traveling, and was a spiritual person who believed in God and was baptized at Big Valley Grace in Modesto. He will always be remembered for his big heart and character and will be forever missed.
Phillip is survived by his mother, Marilyn Glick; his stepmother, Brenda Shaw; his wife, Jaime Shaw; his children, Avery and Rawley Shaw; his brothers Clifford (Tara) and Clinton Shaw, his sisters Patricia Shaw and Cynthia (Chris) Davis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles who will miss him. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Doris & Charles Greenhaw, his paternal grandparents Ruby & Clifford Shaw, his stepfather Donald Glick, his uncle Thomas Greenhaw, and his uncles Gus, Daniel, and Robert Shaw.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at John Thurman Field in Modesto, CA on July 15, at 10 am. Gordon Rumble will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Phil would hope that you would hug your family today and let them know that you love them. He always made sure to tell us!

This is devastating. We met under the worst conditions I´ve experienced but for a couple years Phil was the only friend I had. We could talk sports for hours and no matter what, each time we were together he would lift me up, tell me I deserved happiness, and tomorrow would be better. We could go weeks without talking until one of our teams lost then we´d pick right back up. I´m sorry I didn´t keep in touch brother, but please know you lifted me out of darkness many times. Can´t eat at Wendy´s without thinking of our lunches, but will have a double tomorrow and remember some fond times.

Phil Shaw was one of my 1st friends in life and over the years we shared so many amazing life experiences together. Growing up in the same neighborhood with Phil and Adam J. was unforgettable. Phil could always make me laugh when I needed it most and Phil was always the first to step up to protect me like a big brother when facing dangerous situations in my life. Phil was more than a bestfriend, he was my Brother and he will be missed so badly!!! My heart and prayers go out to Jamie, Avery and Rawley, I am so very sorry for your loss. We all love and miss you so much Phil Shaw!!!
