William Dorroh Obituary
Following his retirement, he continued to serve as organist for South Highland Presbyterian Church and Mountain Brook Baptist Church. Following his tenure at Mountain Brook Baptist, he moved to Jackson, Tennessee where he served St. Luke's Episcopal Church as Music Associate.
Jim was preceded in death by William James Dorroh, Sr (father), Louise Fort Dorroh (mother), Thomas Louis Dorroh (brother), and Linda Dorroh McDonald (sister).
He is survived by Melissa McDonald Stoll of Auburn, Alabama (niece), William Joseph McDonald of Auburn, Alabama (nephew), and Thomas Bryan McDonald of Destin, Florida (nephew).
The Memorial Service in Jackson, TN., will be Saturday, June 8, 11:00 a.m., at Saint. Luke's Episcopal Church. On Saturday, June 15, 2024 the Memorial Service in Birmingham will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, Woodlawn at 10:00 a.m., followed by a private committal service.

I sang at Walker Memorial when Jim was organist. When he started at BSC, he was in my music theory class. Later, when he was at Canterbury Methodist,he contacted me and asked me to join the choir.That was in 1974. I still sing at Canterbury. I am a wedding director at the church and Jim would sometimes fill in for Lester. It was always good to see him and catch up with the latest.

I sang in Jim´s choir for years, who a joy, fun and just fabulous experience. A master at organ, piano and directing, and serious but humorous. He would stop us singing and say "someone sang a b flat instead of a b."
I cherish those memories and give thanks for the experience.
